A fun run along the canal
My wife and I really enjoyed this race (half marathon) especially as we both got significant PBs! We both thought is was really friendly, very inclusive and generally well organised - although it took almost 24 hours to get our results! The cakes and drinks at the end were also excellent. Tip, have some paper towels/serviettes available for wiping hands after eating cake! We will both do another Grim race.
Definitely one for the bucket list.
I really enjoyed the ever-changing route. However, I was disappointed with the last-minute route change for the 20-miler. Additionally, I was unhappy to receive a different medal than expected. When I asked why our medals were different, I was told that the intended ones had run out. Surely, when participants pay for an event and a medal, the organizers should ensure they have the correct number available.
Inclusive local event.
Different Medal than advertised
I’m writing to share some feedback following the recent ‘Sir Tit March Mayham’ -20-mile run.
This run was a significant achievement for me—it’s the furthest I’ve ever run, and something I trained hard for, both physically and mentally. While I did receive a medal at the finish line, I was disappointed to find it wasn’t the one that had been advertised.
I had been really looking forward to receiving that specific medal as a memento of the challenge and accomplishment. It might seem like a small thing, but after such a demanding effort, it was disheartening not to receive what was promised.
I’d appreciate any clarification on this, and whether there’s any way the originally advertised medal might still be made available.
Thank you for your time,
Sara Sherwood
a great jaunt along the can
Where have I been? This event was my 288th full marathon & first with It’s Grim Up North. My excuse? I live on the South Coast - so it is a long way from home!
I liked the different times for each distance, so you never quit felt alone.
Big thanks to the marshals
Friendly and fun race
The rain couldn't dampen the spirits of your amazing marshals! Loved this race. The creme egg at the finish line really made my morning.
Lovely friendly, inclusive race
Lovely inclusive event, everyone very welcoming and friendly. Loved the crossover of different distances.
Great spirit
20 miler should not have been out & back x2.
Would have been nice to go the other direction for second lap. Or 9 out and back before hitting canal issues.
More toilet stops /opportunities needed. Small things as the event was v good .
Great race, great medal.
Really love the medals. The grim team are all great and appreciate all the effort it takes to make these races happen. H
Great for marathon training!
I don’t think it would be good for beginners as if you were on your own and had a medical there’s a gap between Marshall’s and not necessarily any other runners close to you. You might not feel safe or supported.
The run brief did not state runners stay left it was watch out and be courteous to other towpath users and runners. A faster male from the marathon race almost ran into a group of 6 20 milers as he refused to weave through the runners and walkers. It should be clear that people don’t have the right to charge down the left like they own the path. We’re all sharing the course not just runners but the public.
In future at that venue it might be safer to brief the runners in the car park then walk to the start to avoid blocking the access road and towpath.
It was my first IGUN run and I really liked it. It’s overall really nice to pass the people doing different distances as mostly people are supportive.
Great event to get the Spring season going.
Flat run, 2
Another fantastic day running, brilliant marshaling

The friendliest race, everytime!
Well organised & I swear the nicest runners always turn up to these races. Great conversations and cheers while running from other runners, was great!
Great event. Friendly, for all levels and you get cake at the end!!!!!!
Circuits of Sir Tit!
There was a late route change which meant 2 times around the 10 mile course including the 3 & 5 lock rises (beautiful to look at, not so kind on the legs, but as I did, you can always walk up them!). I’d sum it up us a well run low key event. Great support from other runners and friendly organisers & Marshalls. Received my medal from my son which was a lovely touch! Will return one day to defeat those locks….
Very welcoming and friendly race!
Brilliant
Nice run
A very enjoyable way to get blisters.
More portaloos at the start would have been good- nearly missed the start in the queue!
